Welcome back from the long hiatus! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season!
Ours was ridiculously busy – as per usual – but it was also amazingly spectacular and special. Along with a much-anticipated French Press, my husband surprised me with another perfect gift. He told me that he is ready to have a baby!! I have been in an emotional stupor of happiness ever since! At 35, I thought we would never reach this point and we have, in fact, had conversations about his lack of desire for children. He’s patient, kind, and wonderful with children, but he has never felt the urge to have any of his own – and part of being in a caring partnership is supporting the values and aspirations of your partner. So, I chalked up not having kids as the one sacrifice I would have to make for a man that has made so many sacrifices for me.
Until now.
I am honestly still in shock, but that hasn’t stopped me from making lists and spreadsheets. I have an ever-growing spreadsheet of baby names and a list of things to do to get ready. These things include dropping my caffeine intake from 2-3 cups a day to only 1 – yikes! – and stopping alcohol all together – not as much of a yikes. I have vitamins on order and a grocery cart full of all the healthy foods I love. I also have plans to begin working out more – this one will be tough as I still hate working out. I will eat healthy all day, but please don’t ask me to run.
I am positive that the road ahead will provide many turns and interesting stories, but I am crazy looking forward to this next adventure. It’s a journey I never thought I’d get to take and, even though nothing will ever be the same, I cannot wait to take the first step!
